Will power ensures a replay for Birmingham
A suspected broken leg for Will Packwood overshadowed a very entertaining and battling performance by him and his Birmingham team mates as they secured a replay at Elland Road, that may be could have been more.
Following rued chances by Lee Clark’s men, through Nathan Redmond and Ravel Morrison forcing the very best from Leeds goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown, Wade Elliott took advantage of the Blues’ pressure by scoring the opener in sublime fashion on the half hour mark. After a dribble from the half way line Elliott took an early powerful shot from 30 yards out that nestled perfectly into the top right corner to arguably the best goal of the F.A Cup weekend.
As he had a virus, Neil Warnock gave Leeds a half time team- talk via a mobile phone that gave the team the impetus in the second half to get a result from the match. He also brought Diouf and Byram on to add extra energy into the Leeds’ side.
Within 15 minutes the team- talk seemed to work as Luciano Becciho scored his 19th of the season after some poor marking led to his unchallenged header finding Norris who, with some great touches, played Becciho through for the Argentine to slot the ball past oncoming Colin Doyle.
Minutes later Packwood suffered his horrendous injury when landing after challenging goal scorer Becciho for a header. Not only was it a traumatic experience for the 19 year old American but many of his team mates where very distressed as players who he has grown up playing with were crying and praying for him and his family.
