The well respected and no messing Referee that many of the slightly older generation will remember as passed away aged 82. He was refereeing in a time when tackling was tackling no play acting or the like and never stood any messing on the pitch in age of the hard man footballer.
His biggest claim to fame though came when he award the First penalty ever in a World cup final in 1974 Germany v Holland
