Charlie Chan in Blues takeover talks

Charles Chan is the leading contender to take over at Blues according Colin Tattum

The boss of Hong Kong's top television company is in talks to buy Birmingham City.

Entrepreneur Charles Chan is head of an interested consortium that includes the powerful Shanghai Media and Entertainment Group.

A Shanghai-based investment fund is also involved.

Peter Pannu, who is heading up the sale negotiations for Blues as chief of parent company Birmingham International Holdings Ltd, has been in talks with Chan for months about a £40 million deal.

Sources in Hong Kong, however, say that negotiations have stalled and might even fizzle out altogether.

Chan's group are one of two Hong Kong-based parties keen.
