Next up for our useless lot is a trip to the seaside for another tea time kick off at 5.30pm (Game Is not on sky). Went to the Brighton game last season and had a ball, back then (only six months ago) we were playing well (now look at us) and Nathan Redmond scored a good goal as we drew 1.1.
Brighton are a good footballing side and have kicked on from having a good return to the Championship.
Can we win?
Can we draw?
Or are we in for a defeat and another thrashing?
my team.
........................Zigic...............King................
Redmond............Gomis.............Fahey..............Burke
Gordon..............Davies............Caldwell...........Spector
..............................Butland.................................
After an hour King off & Asante on..
Gomis back in the side to give us some bite in the middle of the park.
Ambrose, Lovenkrands,Lita, Ibanez,Asante,Morrison - on bench.
Mullins - up in the stand
What say you?

Be interesting to see Clark's formation later because if we go 4-4-2- we will be fekked, but if he goes 4-5-1- and trys to stop them from playing then we might just might only lose by a couple.

Blues line up Butland, Packwood, Davies, Caldwell, Robinson , Burke, Spector, Fahey, Elliot , Lovenkrands, Lita
First time in weeks I've had faith in the starting 11. My only change may have been Zig/King in for Lovenkrands.

Yea Spector is a poor midfield player Nick.

And on the Blues bench: Doyle, Hancox, Mullins, Ambrose, Redmond, King, Zigic.
Where is Morrison? heard he was unstoppable in his first game, why not take advantage of him whilst we still have him on loan?

Lee Clark he aint got a clue Nick.
I'd have liked to have seen Asante given a game sometime today but he is not even on the Fekking bench.
Dont like that first 11 at all.

Re: Brighton v Blues - Match Thread & Chat -
Good 1st Half seem to be playing as a team rather than last weekend Robinson having a solid 45mins and we are showing some fight all round more of that 2nd half

1-0 half time
Burke Volley but according to commentary should of been 2-0 Lita missing an absolute sitter would of settled for 1-0 Blues HT before kick off so got to be happy and they seem to be battling for each other
More 2nd half lets keep it up

2nd Half delayed due to floodlight failure life is never dull being a Bluenose just hope they keep their concentration
Re: Brighton v Blues - Match Thread & Chat -
1-0 Blues Full Time
What a great result from the sounds every player wanted it and battled for every ball just the sort of team spirit we need lets just hope this is a big turning point in our season. Was certainly a backs to the wall job in 2nd half but if you dont show that fight you dont get the rewards something we have been lacking all season.
Well Done Lee Clark and the Players lets Kick on now

Well done blues great result at in form brighton but the only downside is that we have to suffer with clark for at least another week
Re: Brighton v Blues - Match Thread & Chat -
Cant knock the win, great 3 points.
Sounded like Davies & Caldwell were excellent which means Clark will probaly drop one of them on Tuesday.
Just goes to show at the end of the day its eleven against eleven and form sometimes goes out of the window.

Re: Brighton v Blues - Match Thread & Chat -
Listening to the commentary, it seems Davies was a giant in defence. Why wasn't he played instead of Ibanez in the earlier games. ?
Answer. Clark of course. The Numpty.

Won't sit comfortably with some of you. But I always like his well balanced view of things....

HERE was no need for an apology this time.
Lee Clark will have enjoyed a much better weekend, as his players will have too.
No inner turmoil, hurt, embarrassment and shock, plus the soul-searching and inquests in the subsequent days, after the Barnsley bomb that was dropped on St Andrew’s.
Clark vowed that another performance like the 5-0 would not happen again.
He pledged that there would be a reaction.
And despite much foreboding and worry as Blues prepared to meet the Championship leaders on their home soil, he was proved right.
Gus Poyet reckoned Blues’ result against the Tykes was an accident, one of those things that happens in football. His view also carried credence on this evidence.
And Clark and Blues came through what was a high-pressure game for them with pride restored.
The manager got the selections and the game-plan spot-on, the players carried the task through and didn’t let him, themselves or the supporters down this time.
Blues performed not only with a commitment and determination that they have done previously, it is forgotten, but also an alert intelligence and calmness, in the first half especially. Chris Burke’s stunning 27th-minute drive that flew into the roof of the net was decisive.
Only the second goal Brighton have conceded at the Amex Stadium, it was the moment of attacking inspiration.
Brighton got themselves tangled by Blues’ ploy of allowing them to play in front but not through or behind.
And in the second half when they piled plenty of pressure on, Blues were – as Clark said – real men, they stuck their chests out and repelled whatever came their way.
Whereas they parted like the Red Sea before Moses against Barnsley, they were Hoover Dam here.
Curtis Davies was immense.
For me the best centre-half in the Championship last season, he had not hit such consistent heights this time round.
But he was back to his imperious best and when Davies is on his game, Blues are much better for it.
And in the problem full-back positions, Blues were well served indeed by two players at the opposite end of the career spectrum.
Paul Robinson’s hiring on a month’s contract was not without controversy.
But it was needs must, said Clark, who was vindicated.
Robinson, who has not played competitively since April, drew on all his wily experience in quelling and seeing off the tricky Will Buckley.
He held his end up impressively – and Brighton tested him to the maximum – to contribute to such a sturdy rearguard. For those expecting to see just strong-arm tactics, he has more about him than that.
There was one late tackle that dumped Inigo Calderon squealing on his backside (no booking), but Blues have missed that kind of thing this season (and last, if truth be told).
Robinson, as he vowed, stood up and was counted, as did teenager Will Packwood on the opposite flank.
Packwood defended his territory with admirable doggedness.
He was in the right places at the right times to clear danger and get his body in the way in the penalty area.
And he was also targeted to the full.
Wayne Bridge was in rampant mood throughout driving forward from left-back, and then Brighton brought on the lively Kazenga LuaLua on that side too for the final 18 minutes.
Packwood eventually succumbed to cramp, but he had more than done his bit – like the rest.
Clark opted for a 4-5-1/4-3-3 and in midfield Blues were sharp and determined.
If Barnsley had been out there, they would have found it much more uncomfortable than a week last Saturday.
Wade Elliott was deployed in the thick of it, and pushed on to support Leroy Lita when he could, while Jonathan Spector’s drive and energy were relentless.
And Blues also kept the ball very well, they were composed in possession.
Brighton, with the onus on them as table-toppers and expectations high following five straight wins, were bewildered.
Blues reminded them and us that they were up against a good side, with good players – Barnsley was, indeed, an accident.
It was not the kind of evening to quibble that Blues should have been taking the game to the hosts, all gung-ho.
No, it was vitally important to get a result after the events of last weekend – and Blues did just that in an efficient, professional manner. In the second half, following an extra 20 minutes interval break due to a floodlight failure, it was more seat-of-the-pants stuff and about digging in.
Brighton stepped up their game and Blues – a side that crumbled and conceded five goals in 23 second-half minutes against Barnsley – remained firm despite the intensity increase.
Despite the pressure, they didn’t have you fearing a collapse this time.
Jack Butland had not had a genuine, over-exerting save to make when all was said and done.
The Championship isn’t a league that conforms to any type, but confounds.
It’s boom and bust, a side that loses 5-0 at home then goes and beats the leaders on their patch.
The brickbats lobbed and quick to judge nature of those watching has to be tempered with an understanding that the teams are evenly matched in general.
Blues, with a manager change, constant player turnover and financial problems, have not had the kind of continuity Brighton have benefited from in the last couple of years.
Erase the Barnsley result (how we all wish), and Blues have taken ten points out of 12.
