Ron Atkinson at Blues.
Big Ron at BCFC?
Makes sense as he only lives in Solihull. I would say Yes and a warm welcome.
Ron Atkinson lined up for director of football role at Birmingham City if Gianni Paladini succeeds in takeover
Gianni Paladini has revealed he wants to employ Ron Atkinson, the former Aston Villa manager, if he succeeds with his proposed takeover of Birmingham City.
Paladini is keen to recruit Atkinson in a senior role should his bid for the Championship club be accepted by current owner Carson Yeung, with an initial £25 million offer already rejected.
Atkinson, known as 'Big Ron', is a long-time friend of Paladini and has not worked in football since leaving Nottingham Forest in 1999. But Paladini, who is spearheading a bid with a consortium of Italian businessmen, has admitted the 73 year-old is likely to be handed a post at St Andrew's if he succeeds in buying Birmingham. Atkinson managed the club's bitter rivals Villa for three years in the 1990s.
Paladini said: "You need people with experience of business, of course, but also experience of running a football club. You have to know football.
"If we took over, I would probably ask someone like Ron Atkinson to help me. I have known Ron for years, we are good friends. He is local, and his knowledge and expertise is great. He is a personality.
"I have offices in London and business to attend to there, so I wouldn’t be at the club all the time. I would need somebody around to help. What type of role? It would be sporting director, something like that maybe."

Correct me if I'm wrong also, but wasn't he born in Bordesley, just a stones throw from St Andrews.

Re: Ron Atkinson at Blues.
RON Atkinson today admitted that he would be interested in joining a new regime at Birmingham City.
And the former West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa boss revealed that he has held informal talks with Gianni Paladini, who is trying to buy Blues from Carson Yeung.
The Italian told the Birmingham Mail that he would look to appoint Atkinson to help him run the club, should his consortium be successful.
He said Big Ron’s role would be as sporting director, overseeing football operations from St Andrew’s.
Atkinson, 73, has no desire to return to football management – but such a supremo’s directorship would appeal.
He is a long time friend of Paladini’s, the Solihull-based former football agent and ex-QPR chairman.
The former soccer boss told the Birmingham Mail: “If a deal goes through then, yes, it would be of interest.

Re: Ron Atkinson at Blues.
Thanks Kev. I knew he lived in Bordesley from early on in his life.
My Mum said I was born in the Queens Hospital, later known as the Accident Hospital, and I wasn't either.

Re: Ron Atkinson at Blues.
I like Big Ron.
He's entertaining, he talks sense and has a great managerial record. What he did at West Brom in the late 70s/early 80s was brilliant....I still believe they were the most entertaining football team I have seen. He stabilised Man U and won cups and he did well at the shit.
However he would not make it as a manager now.

Re: Ron Atkinson at Blues.
Not going to happen according to statement released today by BCFC. Was all going fine until they mentioned Ron Atkinson
Never really expected anything else from the owners
An official statement said: "The board of Birmingham City FC can clarify its position following recent media speculation regarding the ownership of the club.
"After comments made to the media, the club would like to place on record that there are no discussions taking place with any group associated with Gianni Paladini.
"A takeover bid was made to the board's lawyers by representatives of an undisclosed party but this was summarily rejected"
Never really expected anything else from the owners
Re: Ron Atkinson at Blues.
This seems to confirm what pandianni was saying that they are dragging their feet
They probably mean they haven't responded to the offer and therefore legally are not in discussion
Solicitors eh
