What was your 1st Blues Game Attended?
Sorry if this has been done before.
Mine was Blues v Man City in the mid '70s. We won 4-0, and were 3-0 up at half time. I was sat in the old paddock stand about where the Main Stand boxes start. (This was a while before they arrived!)
I think there were about 35k there and I remember when the first goal went in and I heard that cheer, I was hooked! The match was the main match on Star Soccer the following day and I was on TV clapping the players as they went up the tunnel. (It was under the Main stand in those days kids!)

I remember it well.........I think it was autumn time in 1974. Bob Hatton got a couple and Kenny Burns got one. I think Howard Kendall got the other. Happy Days and yes, I bet the crowd would have been 35-40k.

Re: What was your 1st Blues Game Attended?
My first game was Blues 1 Bury 3. 10th September 1966. My dad took me and we sat in the City Stand - which was the upper tier seats in the Railway End.
(the whole end was collectively known as the Railway End, the standing below was Emmeline Street and the seating above was the City Stand) --- fekk me I sound like Partisan.
Notice the date.....the 66 World Cup got me hooked on football so my Dad took me to see a game at the first opportunity.

Mine was 1971 season V Carlisle at home we won 3-2 what a season to start going Though Francis, Latchford, Hatton, Taylor unbeaten in last 18 games in fact only lost 5 times all season [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
always remember standing at the front at the front corner of Tilton and Kop saw some great games that season, though only went to a few but do remember the away trips, Going to Oxford away and getting locked out until half time, paying a visit to Swindon town and more importantly being at Leyton Orient last game of the season to cheer the lads on to promotion. Happy days

Nice one Hootie. What a great season to start watching the Blues. That game was the start of the season and I remember I didn't go to that game. We used to go on hols to Weymouth for 2 weeks in August. I can remember getting theiir Saturday evening sports paper - it was green - to get the results. Blues won 3-2. I remember the week before doing the same for the Sunderland away game - first match of the season.
Great season though - 49,000+ for the Millwall game.
That Oxford away game was Good Friday - we won 1-0 with a Bob Hatton goal. What an easter - Godd Friday Oxford away (w1-0), Saturday Cardiff away (0-0) and Easter Tuesday Blackpool home (w 2-1)...then that Millwall game I mentioned above was the next Saturday.
Fekkin best season ever for me Hootie --- we even had a cup un to the Semi Finals.

Re: What was your 1st Blues Game Attended?
My first game. I'm sorry to say lads, but it was way back in history. Blues 4. Portsmouth 0. Saturday October 26th, 1935. Or so I learned later. I believe about 45000 in the ground.
I was sitting on my dads shoulders age three and a half. Our kid was due to be born and we were all sent out of the house. Typical of our kid though, eventually arrived on the 29th.
I don't remember much about the game of course, but do remember lots of men in blue and red shirts running around chasing a ball.
I followed up going down Blues about a dozen times pre-war, and well remember gates of well over 50000. The game against Arsenal in 1938 or was it 39, was I understand over 62000. As a kid I always went on the Kop and many a time was passed over the heads of the crowd, and down to the front. It was often very wet down there , and I learned it was better to go in wellies.
Although I say it myself, I must be one of the few around today still going down there, (I'm in my 77th year of supporting Blues) Who has seen Joe Bradford and Harry Hibbs playing. I also remember the following, some of whom carried on again after the war. Wilson Jones, Don Dearson, Ray Shaw, also manager for a time, Ted Duckhouse, Dennis Jennings, Cyrill Trigg, and Arthur Turner, also manager for a time.
Very Happy Days indeed. I'm afraid those days are gone. Every game a 3pm Saturday Kick Off. You could set your diary and be sure of it.

my first game was against West Bromwich Albion, think it was 1996 but i could be wrong, Barry fry was in charge and we won 2-0. it was on Boxing day and think Snow had to be cleared before the game took place if memory serves. I was with my future husband who was trying to turn me into an Albion fan. Each time Blues scored i kind of squeezed his hand in celebration and smiled as we was standing with the away support.

Re: What was your 1st Blues Game Attended?
1971 - 72 was my first season
My dad and uncles went to every game home and away
I can remember crawling under the turn styles as My dad pushed it thru and I would stand under the clock with my cousins and wasn't allowed to move.
I think I remember going to Orient , I'm sure there was a concrete wall around the ground and I was too short so my Dad put me on it

Which is the game I started this thread off with.
Re: What was your 1st Blues Game Attended?
I can remember my first fight.
It was around the back of the main stand used to be a play area with plenty of grass. Was with a Spurs fan, the cockney was as hard as nails no matter how many times he went down he just got straight back up for more, I ended up being kicked in the face and then whacked on the head by a copper's truncheon, got home with blood running down the side of my head, missus was not pleased
Those were the days
