BLUES HAVE A TOP SQUAD BY BLUENOSEKEV
BLUENOSEKEV POSTED
According to Darren Carter we have a top squad.....
DARREN Carter believes whoever succeeds Chris Hughton as manager of Blues will have a good squad to work with.
The former Blues midfielder, who ten years ago was enshrined in club folklore after his play-off final penalty against Norwich City took the club into the Premier League, gave his backing to the boys left behind following Hughton‘s move to Carrow Road.
Carter was a non-contracted part of Blues’ squad for the early part of last season after he returned to St Andrew’s to stay in shape as he looked for a new club.
During that time he got to see first hand just how committed Blues’ players are, a quality he insists will serve the new boss well.
That still looks like being Lee Clark after the Geordie continued his negotiations with Blues and although nothing has been announced, it is likely confirmation will come early this week.
And Carter maintains the next man in the Birmingham hot seat will have good tools with which to work.
“Chris Hughton did a fine job and he is quite obviously a fantastic coach, but he was the first to say he had a great bunch of lads to work with who are very professional,” Carter said.
“I was working with them through my rehab and training and I have never been around such a group of dedicated professionals.
“Every one of them does their best to prepare properly and does everything right and once they have their preferred man at the helm to steer them that will continue.
“Whoever gets the job will be very, very pleased with what he has to work with.”
Clark is still the front-runner and his odds are as short as 1-10 on today for what will be his first job since leaving League One outfit Huddersfield.
