Blues first game of the new season is at home this Saturday.
£32.00 pay on the day in the Tilton means I wont be going.
Am going for a 1.1. draw. What say you?
Thoughts?
kro.

To be fair, that's what it should be...in an ideal world it would be £15

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] The new season gets underway with Blues facing newly promoted Charlton Athletic at St Andrews in what could be an interesting contest.
Many Changes have taken place over the summer at Blues with new manager Lee Clark being installed after the departure of Chris Hughton to Norwich followed by some new additions to the backroom staff and playing staff. Meanwhile over at The Valley Charlton manager Chris Powell as been preparing his team for life back in the Championship after romping away with the League1 title finishing 8pts ahead of the 2nd placed team, Chris Powell as been restricted in the transfer market and to date similar to Blues have only got Free transfers or loans in. Blues should however go into the game high in confidence if previous meetings at St Andrews are anything to go by with Blues having won 15 of the previous 28 meetings a strike rate of 53%. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Over at St Andrews Lee Clark is also looking forward to his first League game in charge and will have a near full squad to pick from with only slight doubts to Steven Carr and Jonathan Spector but will have all new recruits available. Like his opposite number Clark knows the game will be far from easy but with home advantage is expecting Blues to start with 3pts
Saying
Chris Powell is expecting a difficult game on the teams return to the championship especially against one of the leagues better teams but will have his team ready for the clash, Powell's team will be without Andy Hughes, Nick Pope and Yado Mambo all missing through injury
Head to Head Stats @ Blues .... Birmingham City won 15... Charlton won 5.... Drawn 8
Possible teams
Birmingham City : Butland, Murphy, Gordon, Caldwell, Davies, Burke, Ambrose, Morrison, Mullins, king , Lovenkrands
Charlton : Hamer; Wilson, Evina, Taylor, Cort; Green, Hollands, Kerkar, Cook, Wagstaff, Wright-Phillips
Referee : Gary Sutton
Prediction : Blues 3 .. Charlton 1

Saying
“First league game, tough opponent, they did extremely well last season, they have a terrific manager.
“We know we’ll have one or two problems if we don’t do our job properly without the ball.
“But we also know that, on the other hand, we have a lot of inventive players who can cause them one or two problems.
“So we’re expecting an exciting game and we’re looking to start off in the league with the right result.”
Chris Powell is expecting a difficult game on the teams return to the championship especially against one of the leagues better teams but will have his team ready for the clash, Powell's team will be without Andy Hughes, Nick Pope and Yado Mambo all missing through injury
“It will be a tough game. They’ve got a new manager so they will be looking to impress him.
“They’re at home, they’re going to be positive and they’re going to be on the front foot.
“We’ve got to be ready for that start, but the game will settle down.
“It’s going to be a game we have to handle and impose ourselves on. If that’s early on then great but if we have to weather the storm - which I personally think will happen - then we’ll do that.
“It’s up to us not to freeze and play our game, be disciplined and focused.
“It’ll be a good game, it’s going to be competitive.” stated Chris Powell

Starting 11 :
Butland; Packwood, Davies, Caldwell (c), Murphy; Burke, Mullins, Morrison, Ambrose; Lovenkrands, King
Subs :
Doyle, Ibanez, Elliott, Rooney, Zigic, Redmond, Spector.
seem like on paper a very strong squad

Over all just as poor as against Barnett.
They seem to be strangers?
Still have the same issue, misplaced passes. Even Burke's distribution was really poor. He must have passed it to their goalie half a dozen times.
On the bright side, there is evidence we could be pretty good.

Read it.
If only we had some younger players with some energy instead of old un's and has been's then I might be able to find some enthusiasm.
Hold on wait - Forgot about Jordan Mutch............
Whoops forgot, took the money for him...

By contrast, there were six players making their competitive or league debuts for Blues, three of them 19-year-olds.
*cough cough*
