Chris Hughton Charged

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has been charged with failing to tell police who was driving his car when it was clocked speeding.

The Premier League boss was served with a notice to hand over details of the driver after his car was allegedly spotted breaking the speed limit.

But the former Newcastle manager, 53, has been accused of failing to hand over the information and faces a trial next month.

Hughton’s car was allegedly caught speeding in Solihull, West Midlands in February this year when he was manager of Birmingham City.

Hughton first appeared at Solihull Magistrates Court on July 9 and the case was adjourned to the same court on August 22 when he is due to stand trial.

The offence carries a maximum penalty of six penalty points and a fine.

Hughton joined Newcastle as first team coach in 2008, and, following their relegation, became caretaker manager.

He led Newcastle back to the Premier League in his first season in charge and secured the manager’s job on a permanent basis.

He was sacked as manager the following December, with his side 12th in the table.

Hughton managed Birmingham City for a single season, leading them to 4th place in the league, before joining Norwich in June 2012.
