Re: David Lucas WHOOOOOO
I think Clark has decided to bring in a goalkeeper Player/Coach rather than just a coach
It makes good sense - with 2 strings to their bow we have the back up in place just in case someone should come in with a bid for Butland on deadline day that as the club say is "too good to refuse" ( 250K probably)
It seems as though he must have had Lucas in mind and as soon as Harper fell through he went after his No2 target.
Lee Clark has moved quickly to bring his goalkeeping ranks up to strength by signing experienced stopper David Lucas.
The 34-year-old ex-England under-20 international has signed a one-year deal with the club.
Lucas now joins Jack Butland and Colin Doyle as a trio of goalkeepers at Clark's disposal.
"I'm delighted to welcome David to the club and he will now compete with Jack and Colin for the number one spot," said the Blues boss.
"It's very important for us to always have three senior goalkeepers to call upon because, for example, we could find ourselves without Jack Butland for the Capital One Cup tie against Barnet due to international duty."
Lucas began his career at Preston North End in 1994 and spent ten years at Deepdale, before moving on to Sheffield Wednesday.
After two-years with The Owls he went on to have spells at Barnsley, Leeds and Swindon Town.
Most recently Lucas was at Rochdale where he assumed a dual role as player-coach before leaving Spotland in May 2012.

I don't know about you filks, but I would like to see Butland as our main keeper and Doyle as back up.
I know Doyle always seems to have have been back up, but he's too prone to clangers for me.
