BCFC Year Review 2012 Empty BCFC Year Review 2012

Post  bluenosekev Sun Dec 30, 2012 7:52 pm

2012 started well for the Blues, we were playing some good entertaining football under Chris Hughton, home wins against the likes of Middlesbrough and Reading (Champions) had us dreaming of a return to the Premiership. A draw at Brighton cemented our play-off place setting us up against Blackpool and many of us had visions of another return to Wembley. A 1.0. defeat up at Blackpool was fully deserved as we never really got going. Back at St Andrews losing 2.0. Blues came back to 2.2. and a rousing finale almost got us into the final.

From there on in it was all down hill.

Chris Hughton left for Norwich for around £2 Million. No ambition at Blues meant Chris Hughton was on his bike.
Ben Foster was sold to Wba for approx £ 4 million. Foster had already spent the previous season at the Baggies so this sale was just a formality.
Jordan Mutch was sold to cardiff for a few million. This sale was very annoying as Mutch being only 20 years of age and had his whole future in front of him. As a Good attacking goal scoring young midfielder our loss was Cardiff's gain.

Lee Clark was named our new manager and what a disappointment he has turned out to be. Mullins, LovenKrands, Ambrose would all prove to be poor signings. Ravel Morrison would have no consistency to his game although Paul Caddis is a decent right back and a good replacement for that bluenose legend Stevie Carr.

More oldies were added to the squad, Paul Robinson and Papa Bouba Diop on monthly contracts..Rob Hall joined on loan and to be honest has a good left foot on him.

The football under Clark has been at times pathetic, how can a team that finished fourth last season currently lie in 20th position in the Championship, fifth from bottom ? Virtually the same players I might add.

2012 started off with so much promise and yet here we are sliding down the Championship all the way that could well end up with us playing in League one next season. Peter Pannu has said we will sell in January, so it will be goodbye to the likes of Butland & Davies.

Administration/New Owners has to happen early in 2013.
